2021-Thank you to all that came to our Memorial celebration. This was a come and go event in order to accommodate social distancing guidelines. In lieu of a formal service, this is a time of your choosing to light a candle (provided by HJC), to leave a floral or keepsake tribute in honor of your loved one, and to reconnect with Hospice staff. We will have services in the spring and fall of each year. Spring 2022 Memorial Service will be Sunday May 15 from 1pm to 3pm at the Hospice of Jackson County Memorial Garden.

On behalf of our organization and the community members we serve, we say Thank You for choosing to support our mission:
Of providing dignity, respect, guidance and symptom management to those who have chosen quality of life over curative treatments;
Of empowering individuals to continue activities they enjoy for as long as possible;
Of enabling their families to care and prepare to the best of their abilities;
Of being a community resource for those who grieve the loss of a loved one;
Of wisely managing resources, to support our commitment to providing the highest quality care to all we serve.
Meet out bereavement coordinator; Vicki Alden: Vicki began working with hospice in 2007 as grief counselor and bereavement coordinator. Acting as Interim Director from May 2014-2017, she is excited about both the challenges and possibilities ahead for Hospice of Jackson County. “We are blessed with the most amazing team in our staff members and Board of Directors…they are an absolute joy to work with. We are looking at the healthcare climate changes as challenging opportunities. Because HJC has such a talented, cohesive team, there are exciting possibilities open to us. One thing remains unchanged–we will continue to care for our patients and their families with excellent care and compassion.”
With a background in administration and grant writing, Vicki worked in City government for several years before turning to work in healthcare. She is licensed as grief counselor and massage therapist, as well as certified in many complementary therapy modalities, including Reflexology, Reiki and Harp therapies. Vicki has also completed her Ph.D. in Metaphysics.
Vicki lives on an acreage outside of Maquoketa and is “mom” to Hospice of Jackson County’s pet therapist, Tessa. She enjoys keeping up with the busy lives of her children and grandchildren, all of whom live in the Maquoketa area.
